Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
I am a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (CBT) and I work with children and adults. I use Exposure and Response Prevention to treat OCD, and I use Cognitive Processing Therapy to treat PTSD. Both therapies are types of CBT. I also use CBT to treat body dysmorphic disorder, anxiety disorders, anger management, and depression. When I work with ADHD and my neurodivergent clients, I primarily use behavioral interventions and teach skills to improve executive functioning, frustration tolerance, and emotional regulation. I also use mindfulness techniques with many clients.
These interventions are highly effective, and I tailor them to meet the specific needs of my clients. Targeted therapy can often be completed in 16-24 sessions, though treatment can take longer when dealing with complicated symptoms and problems.
CBT is extremely flexible and collaborative and can be adapted to meet the needs of any client. I have a very person-centered approach, and I like to use creativity and humor to help my clients learn new ways of thinking and responding to triggers, as well as new coping skills.
